our
Family
Janna and Zachary first met at Niraj Yoga in Portland, Maine, during a workshop on Hindu deities. Sharing a dream of building a life rooted in creativity, land, and community, they moved to Bowdoinham in 2020. They were married in their backyard—surrounded by a small group of loved ones in person, and many more over Zoom.
Their son, Oliver, was born in 2022 and is the joyful center of their studio life.
Janna is a full-time art teacher at Cape Elizabeth High School and a potter whose work is inspired by gardening, homesteading, and textile traditions. She loves growing food, sewing her own clothes, and leading with curiosity in all things.
Zachary is a licensed massage therapist with over 25 years of experience. He was also a high school art teacher for two decades before happily trading the classroom for full-time fatherhood when childcare was scarce. He now splits his time between massage therapy, pottery, cooking, and riding his tractor—ideally all in one afternoon.

Our Roots
Our Purpose
At Turning Arts Studio, we believe in the power of creativity and connection. Through pottery, massage therapy, and hands-on workshops, we offer space for people to slow down, reconnect with their bodies, and engage in meaningful creative work.
Whether you're shaping clay, receiving bodywork, or trying something new in community, our studio is a place to explore curiosity, foster well-being, and return to presence.

Rooted in
Creativity & Wellness
The name Turning Arts Studio reflects the dynamic, transformative nature of both art and healing.
“Turning” speaks to the potter’s wheel—where raw clay is shaped with intention—and to the inward turning of attention during massage, yoga, and bodywork. It also hints at seasonal rhythms, cycles of change, and creative evolution.
At Turning Arts, art and wellness turn together. It’s a space where people come to create, restore, and connect—with their bodies, their hands, and their community.
