our

Family

Janna and Zachary first met at Niraj Yoga in Portland, Maine during a workshop on Hindu Dieties. Wanting to live in a community of artists and farmers, they moved to Bowdoinham, Maine in 2020. They got married in their backyard in front of a dozen friends and family, and even more over Zoom. Their son, Oliver, was born in 2022.

Janna is an art teacher at Cape Elizabeth High School. She loves gardening, yoga, and sewing her own clothes.

Zachary was a high school art teacher for 20 years and happily left that career behind him to become a stay-at-home dad when childcare was scarce. A massage therapist of 25 years, he loves gardening, driving his tractor, and cooking the perfect summer meal.

Our Roots

Our Purpose

At Turning Arts Studio, we believe in the power of creativity and connection. Through pottery, massage therapy, and hands-on workshops, we create space for people to slow down, be present, and explore their curiosity. Whether shaping clay, receiving bodywork, or learning something new, our studio is a place to nurture both creativity and well-being.

Rooted in

Creativity & Wellness

Turning Arts Studio was named to reflect the dynamic and transformative nature of the creative and wellness practices we offer. "Turning" symbolizes the act of shaping and evolving, akin to the potter's wheel where raw clay is turned into beautiful pottery. It also represents the turning of one's focus inward during yoga and wellness practices, promoting personal growth and healing. Our studio is a space where art and wellness turn together, fostering creativity, relaxation, and community.
